3 BANDS, ONE NIGHT
Totally Slow, Despair, and Black Haüs
Despair - A Post-Americana Roll Band. Edgy but rootsy, danceable but disruptive. Combine a little Talking Heads, Ali Farka Toure, Booker T and the MG's and Tom Waits and you might get something like Despair. Dan Bayer (Raving Knaves, Grand Ole Uproar), Gary Heidt (Mammals of Zod, Fist of Kindness, Caterpillar Hedge), Micah James & Tom Woods (MOV, Anonymous Bosch, Johnny O and the Jump Out Boys.)
Totally Slow - North Carolina’s Totally Slow are a four-piece band working in the grand tradition of melodic and emotional DIY punk. Wilmington Star: “ferocious and guttural…wonderfully loud songs,” Collective Zine: “honest to goodness, grown up punk/indie rock played with tons of heart." They feature drummer Andy Foster, bassist Greg Monroy, guitarist Chuck Johnson, and guitarist/vocalist Scott Hicks.
Black Haüs - One of most energetic up-and-coming bands in the Greensboro scene. Self-described as an “unapologetically black band.” Their ability to seamlessly blend rap, punk, electronic music and R&B has made them a favorite among students of UNCG. The band’s members—Jeffrey Tulliz Jr., Patrick Young, Taylor Williams, Sid Pennix and Collin Nesbitt.
